The Luangwa national park is one of the most prolific and bountiful parks covering an area of 9000 kilometres² (3,475 square miles) of pristine wilderness in Zambia's Eastern Province. There are 6 standard rooms located in three chalets with a downstairs double room surrounded by a cool veranda and an upstairs twin room with a high thatched roof and views of the river. It is the home to some of the last great buffalo herds in Africa, with herds of over 2000 still seen. Given the abundance of prey animals, it is no wonder that it also has the highest concentration of lion in the Park. Robins is also known for big populations of reedbuck, roan, sable and tsessebe as well as the usual herds of elephants and other species encountered in the Park. Particularly encouraging are the regular sightings of both Cheetah and African Wild Dog. The scenery of Robins is varied with hills, kopjes (small bouldered hills) and vlei (grassed plains that flood seasonally) areas and has a lot to offer the wildlife enthusiast. The camp is designed to be erected or dismantled within hours, leaving no trace of its existence on the surrounding environment. Adding to its rustic luxury, the camp has comfortable beds furnished with linen and duvets. The large tents have en suite toilet facilities for night use. A long drop toilet and showers (with plenty of hot water) are also provided for day use. Laundry can be done on site. All water used in camp is filtered; however bottled water is also available. Each morning, camp staff fill the wash basins outside your tents with hot water for washing or shaving. Lighting is by hurricane lamp but guests should bring their own torch or headlight.
